Welcome to Alamos, Sonora, Mexico. An article from Mining and Scientific Press, April 16, 1910, described silver mines near Alamos, Sonora,Mexico as the southeast corner of the Great Basin and Range and Klamath Falls, Oregon as the northwest corner. At that time, Tulelake, south of Klamath Falls, was under Tule Lake and had no outlet to the Pacific Ocean. In 1907, the Klamath Reclamation Project began to be incrementally drain Tule Lake. The town of Tulelake was incorporated in 1937. Real de los Frailes, later to become Alamos, Sonora, Mexico, was founded in 1630. Both areas are rich in wildlife and isolated from urban encroachment. They are a Tale of Two Towns each living a significant chapter in the settlement of the West. And now, let us visit Alamos along the old El Camino Real.
