WW II Internment and Segregation Camp at Tulelake. Over 29,000 Japanese Americans passed through these gates. The population of the camp peaked in 1944 at 18,600 internees and a staff of nearly 2,000. Located just south of Tulelake at Newell, the camp was the largest and last to remain in operation.
