In the early 1900's the Bureau of Reclamation began one of its most ambitious and efficient projects. The Klamath Reclamation Project encompasses 210,000 acres of farmland and 30,000 acres of Tule Lake and Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuges. After WWI and WWII a grateful government awarded homesteads to qualifying veterans chosen by lottery.
