Always looking for food.
My favorite season on Lower Klamath is winter.
Six bald eagles, mature and adolescent, have a perch with a view.
Staying in one place, practicing patience, while observing nature has it rewards.
Young eagles, yet to reach the age of bald-white headedness, figure life out.
Lower Klamath becomes a distant place, like Africa or the Tundra, the further one drives into it.
These large birds are safe surrounded by water. They rest in peace.
The Spring Migration begins to arrive on Lower Klamath in February.
The spring migration brings many birds to the area, and the weak become food,
Migrating Swans feed and rest the area in huge numbers, 90,000 on 2-10-11.
Most birds will takeoff when they sense a Bald Eagle, not the large swans.
Two gallons of gas and a full day exploring Lower Klamath, priceless.
