Primeval Enormity of it All

04 – Floatus 3:53

Woven subsonic layers of shifting drone tones, doppler shifted automobile drive-bys and airline flyovers, pedaltone resonant filter sawtooth synth sweeps, and ambiguous low frequency white noise generated from recordings of wind at the farm in Tulelake.  There is some sparkling effervescence created from plucked nylon string sounds originally programmed on the Korg Trinity Plus, and thereafter cut up into tiny bits and reverse-engineered into these pulsating wave sequence arpeggiations. This works very nicely with some frog voices.

The JD800 provided sounds for the flute and Fanta Piano. Subsequent overdubbing sessions and cutting room floor audio clip editing from over the years help fatten up the track.   Extensive spacial processing, including custom programmed reverbs and delays, impart the sense of being within some vast, cavernous, cathedral-like palace of the gods.  You may feel swallowed up by the primeval enormity of this track… Denver Clay

Denver poetically, and technically, captures Floatus’ evolution and evolvement.
Added notes: Recreation Creek’s finches and Pelican Bay’s frogs, both in the Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge, are featured natural voices along with Mocha’s cat-snoring. The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels make a couple of guest fly-overs. A scooter and voices are heard in one of the many sonic clouds. The Final Cut Pro sequence reveals several backward tracks and a handful of twelve second dissolves. Continuity. Persistence. Imagination.
Floatus is all about the journey within this dream… Anders Tomlinson
